How to Access Microsoft Word on Windows 8

This worked for me (using Office 2013, but it should be the same for any Office version):

• Press the Windows key and the C key together, or swipe in from the right, to open the Charms bar.
• Click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
• In the Control Panel, click Programs.
• On the Programs page, click "Set your default programs".
• In the list of programs, click Word. (I think any of the Office programs will work here.)
  
• Click "Set this program as default".
• Click OK and then close the window.

Now try right-clicking the desktop, or a folder in File Explorer, and clicking New. All of the Office default formats should be listed.

I followed the steps - Word, and the other Office programs, are not showing up in that programs page.

I know this sounds way too simple and very easy, but this is the best way to do it! Go to your home screen by clicking the windows button on your keyboard, this home screen is the 10 have the windows that is easier to use my touch screen instead of just your mouce, anyways without cooking anything type in " word".  your settings page will pop up then click Microsoft Office 2013 or whichever Microsoft Office you have then you should be able to get into it with no problem :)

Thank you, Thank you.  So simple.  Typiing word document or anything other than just word gets very complicated.

Do you know the meaning of "default"?

It only has to be done once!

Of course, you could just add Word to the taskbar or pin it to the Start screen.  Then with one click, Word will start with a new document.
